Positions in Basketball
There are five main positions in basketball:
- Point Guard
- Shooting Guard
- Small Forward
- Power Forward
- Center
The "floor general" of the offense of their team. The PG orchestrates the offense by making sure his fellowplayers are in the right spots and keeping the ball moving.
The SG and SF are what you call the "wings" as they typically space the floor on opposite side the the court.
These positions are typically cutters and can be dynamic scorers as well.
The "Bigs" are usually your biggest and/or most physical guys on the floor.
While these guys can score the basketball as well, they are usually used as screen setters on offense and defensive anchors on defense.
